Wake Forest’s football program announced Thursday that starting defensive tackle Josh Banks has been suspended for the rest of the season. According to the team, a violation of team rules led to Banks’ suspension.

Banks had started the last 21 games at defensive tackle for the Demon Deacons, including all nine this season. This year he’s tallied 24 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one fumble recovery this season.

At 3-6, Wake needs to win its final three games to qualify for bowl eligibility. Notre Dame, Duke and Clemson are their final three opponents to close out the year.
