Georgie’s escape instills a fleeting sense of hope amongst his mother and father as well as the audience. This sense is fleeting though for we soon see Paul approaching Georgie, leading to the boy’s recapture.
The family is then reunited, much to the dismay of the boy’s parents. Paul and Peter’s game is in motion once again.
Some time after the game has begun again, we find Paul making a sandwich in the kitchen as the audience hears commotion occurring in the living room. He is nonchalant as he makes his sandwich, aware and apathetic towards the sadistic game that is taking place in the next room.
