Last May, I packed my backpack and headed on a 48-hour journey halfway across the world to Nepal for five weeks. With high expectations for my abroad experience, I waved goodbye to my parents and set off for an experience that is hard even now for me to articulate.
After an amazing, but exhausting, trek through the Himalayas, we departed to our new home for the next two weeks, Besisahar. Besisahar is the district headquarter of the Lamjung region in Nepal, about a six-hour bus ride from Kathmandu.
When I walked up the steep hill to my new home, I had no idea what to expect.
