“Bernie is bae” chanted the millennials in the crowd of 9,000 that attended presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders’ rally at the Greensboro Coliseum on Sept. 13.
Attendees lined up for hours, made “Bern Baby Bern” signs and wore t-shirts that said “Join the political revolution today.” The campaign asked attendees to register, and in return they got a Bernie 2016 sticker and small Bernie signs that were passed out inside the coliseum.
Many brought their young children, some of whom were as passionate about Sanders as their parents. A girl, around age eight, asked her mother to sign her up for Sanders’ campaign text messages but was told no because she didn’t have a cell phone.
