Athletic and performing superstars have a great deal of attention, but with a project by Wake Forest researchers, the spotlight is now on moral superstars.
The Beacon Project, directed by William Fleeson, undertakes the task of understanding the morally excellent.
With the interdepartmental team, including Wake Forest psychology professors Eranda Jayawickreme and Michael Furr, as well as philosophy professor Christian B. Miller, the project will be completed in the next three years.
“These are [morally exceptional] people who have not been studied as much as they should be,” Miller said. “We want to learn how they became exceptional in the first place, with the ultimate goal of wanting to become more like them.
