A few years ago, Universal Studios pegged Colin Trevorrow, a director with only a few low-budget independent films under his belt, to helm Jurassic World. Therefore, placing the task of creating a worthy film of the Jurassic Park franchise on a relatively unknown filmmaker was quite the risk.
This risk though would ultimately prove to be a success.
On June 15, 2015, box office statistics confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel Jurassic World had earned over $208 million during its opening weekend run. The film also garnered positive reception from critics and audiences alike.
