On Monday, President Nathan Hatch and I spoke about some of the most pressing topics in Wake Forest sports today.
Regarding the rise of star-studded freshmen in college basketball leaving college after just one year to move to the NBA, President Hatch believes that the premature departure is inevitable as long as the “one and done” rule stays the same. Hatch supports the idea that basketball players should be able to go straight to the league out of high school, á la Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.
Duke won the national championship largely thanks to three freshmen who will most likely leave for the NBA after one season, but Hatch sees nothing wrong with this.
