Nationals select RHP Matt Pirro in 21st Round of MLB Draft

Right handed pitcher Matt Pirro has become the first Wake Forest baseball player selected in the 2015 MLB draft, going to the Washington Nationals in the 21st round. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Nationals have selected a Demon Deacon.

Pirro struck out 71 batters in 73 1/2 innings, but also walked 55. His fastball maxes out at around 91-93, but also has some good stuff on his breaking ball as well.

He finished the year with a 3.67 ERA in 14 appearances, going 7-4. His .238 BAA was the second best on the team, trailing only Parker Dunshee.
