Four months after assuming her new role as dean of Wake Forest College, Michele Gillespie is now straddling two roles: professor and administrator, two groups that are not always in sync when it comes to the university’s priorities.
With the university having undergone significant changes in recent years, certain individuals in the university’s faculty have been noticeably at odds with administrators over financial priorities and the overall future of Wake Forest.
“A lot of faculty and staff members are curious about the direction the university is going in and whether the university will keep academics as its greatest priority,” said Gale Sigal, professor of English and president emerita of the university’s faculty senate.
