I was mindlessly scrolling across my Facebook newsfeed a few days ago when I came across a New York Times magazine article titled “Why We Should Fear University, Inc.”
The article discusses the role of university administrative bodies when addressing student activism and reactions to campus climate issues.
In particular, it highlights how diminutive a role altruism plays in these decisions, and how administrative resolutions are highly political and corporation-like.
The writer also illustrates how student activism and discussions about campus climate, often described as “overly sensitive,” are a natural response to the confines of corporation-like universities.
