Considering herself a “split-mind” with two different passions, Catherine Jachthuber majored in English to cultivate her love for reading and writing while fulfilling all the science requirements to continue on to medical school.
“I always wanted to be a doctor interested in both science and humanities,” said the graduate from Atlanta, Ga. “Pre-med is not a major [at Wake] so I took all the chemistry and biology classes with some English classes and I ended up falling in love with English.”
Jachthuber loved the English major because of the diversity of classes it offered.
It gave her the availability to take courses both featured around the classics as well as contemporary issues.
