Classics: Mariah Wright

Latin may be considered a dead language, but Mariah Wright’s experience at Wake Forest shows how useful a Latin major can be.

“Most people think Latin is a dead language, but it is so applicable to the world around us and it helps me with my writing skills and reading skills as well as understanding humanity and other languages better,” Wright said.

Wright’s grandparents are from Charlotte, N.C., and thus she looked at schools in the area during her college search process. While she was looking at Duke University, she decided to check out Wake Forest.

“I didn’t end up applying to Duke,” Wright said.
