Virginia Tech junior Murielle Tiernan scored two goals as the number 13 Virginia Tech women’s soccer team opened their season with a win against the Indiana Hoosiers during the first round of the Hoosier Classic. The Hokies jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes of the match and never trailed on their way to a 2-1 victory.
Last year Tiernan led VPI in goals and assists. Senior Ashley Meier has been named a preseason All-ACC selection for 2015, and last year was third in goals. Together these two young women hope to lead the Fighting Gobblers women’s soccer effort, and build on the successes of last year’s squad.
