After taking three out of four over this past weekend on the road at Nevada, the newly-minted 19th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies returned home to English Field at Union Park to take on local foe Radford on Tuesday afternoon.
With the help of home runs by Ryan Tufts, JD Mundy, and Joe Freiday, Jr., the Hokies were powered to a 9-7 victory over the visiting Highlanders. It is the seventh time in nine games that the Hokies have scored eight or more runs, and the eighth game in which the Hokies have scored seven runs or more.
Tufts and Mundy both notched multi-hit games, with three hits and two hits, respectively, while outfielder Tom Stoffel collected three more hits to raise his batting average to an even .
