Virginia Tech women’s soccer headed to Elite Eight vs. Duke

It hasn’t been a great year for Virginia Tech athletics outside the wrestling team. It began earlier this year when the women’s basketball team lost star center Elizabeth Kitley due to injury, ruining VT’s opportunity at a second consecutive Final Four. Then, weeks later, head coach Kenny Brooks bolted for Kentucky.

Men’s basketball coach Mike Young saw virtually his entire roster depart due to the lack of a competitive NIL program. But the Hokies still had football. On Saturday, the Hokies are playing Virginia for the Commonwealth Cup to become bowl-eligible. A season that began with College Football Playoff dreams ends with the hopes of earning a trip to the Cricket Celebration Bowl or the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl.
