This is it. Beamer’s last football game as head coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies. I’m going to be honest, it could be more glamorous. The Hokies have to travel down to Shreveport, Louisiana, population 200,000, to play a pretty poor Tulsa team in the Camping World Independence Bowl. Is it just me or have the names of these bowl games gotten a bit ridiculous? Not only that, but it’s the day after Christmas… Not ideal timing for incentivizing fans to travel. Tulsa should be fired up, seeing as it’s most of the team’s first bowl game, but they’re clearly the underdog, currently at +13.
