The Virginia Tech Hokies 2024 football season is in critical condition. After dropping a heartbreaker at home to Rutgers on Saturday, Tech now faces finishing the month of September with a 2-3 record.
Slow starts have been a theme for the Hokies since Brent Pry took over as head coach ahead of 2022. Those slow starts have been especially painful this season. Even in wins over Marshall and Old Dominion, Tech has started slow. The Hokies got behind Vanderbilt 17-0 in the season opener, recovered to take the lead, but couldn’t finish.
Last week against Rutgers, Virginia Tech was in a 14-0 hole before storming back in the fourth quarter to tie the game late.
