The 2024 college football season didn’t get off to an ideal start for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Down 17-0 in the first half against Vanderbilt last week, the Hokies clawed back to take a lead. At one point in the fourth quarter, the Hokies led the Commodores 27-20 and only needed the defense to get a stop to begin the year with a hard-fought victory.
It didn’t happen. Virginia Tech’s defense failed to get a stop; Vandy tied the game and had another chance to win in regulation but missed a field goal. So, the game went into overtime, where the Commodores quickly scored.
