Virginia Tech softball: No. 11 Hokies shut out 24th-ranked Liberty

Did you think the Virginia Tech Hokies would have a letdown after last weekend’s sweep of 16th-ranked Stanford in Blacksburg? On Wednesday, the No. 24 Liberty Flames made the short trip to Tech Softball Park, and the Hokies cruised by their in-state rivals with a 6-0 victory.

The win is the 10th in a row for the 11th-ranked Hokies, who have also won 15 of their last 16 games.

Senior pitcher Emma Lemley improved to 13-3 and went the distance for the complete game shutout. Lemley allowed three hits, four walks, and struck out nine batters. After getting into some trouble in the first inning, Lemley calmed down and was dominant for the remainder of the game.
