For just the second time in school history, the Virginia Tech softball team is advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals. The Hokies earned the trip after Saturday’s 11-3 win over Brigham Young in the Tempe Regional Final.
The Hokies first reached the Super Regionals back in 2008 when Angela Tincher was on the mound. Tincher, a member of the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, is one of the greatest — and perhaps most accomplished — athletes in school history.
Sophomore Alexa Milius crushed a walk-off home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Virginia Tech the run-rule win.
