The Virginia Tech Hokies started off the week with some good news. Tech announced it had agreed to a three-year extension with head basketball coach Mike Young that will keep him in Blacksburg until the end of the 2026-27 season.
The 59-year-old Young had three years remaining on the original contract he signed in April 2019.
This a great move by the Hokies. The New River Valley native led the Hokies to a 16-16 record in his first season despite replacing most of the entire roster after Buzz Williams departed. In his second season, Young led the Hokies to a 15-7 mark with a 9-4 record in ACC play despite being picked to finish 11th in the ACC preseason poll.
