The Virginia Tech Hokies made a big hire on Thursday when athletic director Whit Babcock announced John Dooley would be joining his staff as the special assistant to the director of athletics.
Dooley brings an impressive background to his new position, serving as the CEO of the Virginia Tech Foundation from 2012-21. Dooley worked extensively in fundraising in his former role, which means he is the ideal fit for this role. In his new role, Dooley will work with Babcock, and the Hokie Club as the team works toward the $400 million “Reach for Excellence” initiative back in April.
