At halftime, the No. 19 Virginia Tech Hokies lead the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 14-7.
It was an absolutely ugly first half of football for the Hokies, who finished with just over 100 yards of total offense.
The Hokies jumped out to a 14-0 lead after quarterback Connor Blumrick scored on a short run. Blumrick was installed inside the five-yard line after starting quarterback Braxton Burmeister was knocked out earlier in the game. Burmeister returned to the game, but offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen used Blumrick in Quincy Patterson’s old role.
Three different quarterbacks played in the first half for the Hokies.
