Thursday afternoon Virginia Tech Hokies fans were forced to offer a somber farewell to wide receiver, C.J. Carroll, when he announced his retirement from football. The red-shirt senior from Maryland has battled injuries over the last few seasons and listed a setback on a nagging foot ailment as the impetus for his move from football. Mr. Carroll took to Twitter to pass the decision, saying, “As many of you know I’ve been battling through a foot injury for the past two years and trying extremely hard to get healthy. Unfortunately after another setback Saturday night my family and I have decided it is in my best interest at this moment to stop playing the game I love and get healthy.
