The reality that the real opposition for the ODU game would be internal for the Hokies, was stated before. Frankly, all of the losses to ODU over the series have been self-inflicted wounds of one kind or another, locker room dissention, new coaches, squad imbalance, play execution, you name it, that trip to Norfolk brought it out every season that it was made.
This year, the staff was the same, the players were set to break what was becoming a very embarrassing ‘playing down to the opponent’ situation. We’ll talk about that in the ugly section, but for now let’s just move to something hopeful in a 37-17 (really 34-10) spread and O/U smashing result at the final whistle.
