Overall, the Hokies took to Worsham Field with a spirit of determination. The warmup session for the pregame was not a complete mess like in the past two seasons, but as the crowd on the field built it became increasingly difficult to move around, and the team ended up making sure the field and end zone were clear by roping off the area.
The players and coaches were relaxed but focused, but the warmups felt mostly for show and some crowd and sideline visitor visibility, not for real pregame prep. Of course, the beginning of the game sort of showed that the slightly subdued warmup had an undercurrent of passivity that would carry into the early play calling and game plan.
