The Virginia Tech Hokies have changed their opening game for the 2018 football season. Originally VPI was to face the William and Mary Tribe, but that game has been moved to Saturday, September 8.
To start their 2018 season's effort the Hokies will now travel to Tallahassee, FL and face the Florida State Seminoles on Monday, September 3 - Labor Day. The matchup will represent the third time in four years that the Hokies will face a Power Five opponent to start their season. In 2015 VT faced then No. 1 Ohio State. Next year VPI faces their former Big East rival, West Virginia, and then will face FSU in 2018.
