No one is kidding anyone, here. If you are talking national reputations at the national level for high school basketball you are talking more about the DC Metro Area and schools from the Archdiocese of Washington, and Virginia’s Diocese of Arlington. Names like Ireton, O’Connell, Saint John’s, DeMatha, Paul VI, sprinkle the top ranks of high school hoops, but one name stands out as a major rival to them all, and that’s Gonzaga in NW Washington, DC.
The Hokies haven’t been too lucky farming the DC Catholic schools for basketball talent over the years. Maybe that cycle can be broken.
