It didn’t take long after the Hokies scored on an impressive drive in the 3rd to take what looked like a solid 21 - 3 three score lead and Syracuse back on its heals. And then disaster happened.
The Tech defense had been living on the edge with tight man to man coverage and forcing Syracuse to run, but with no safety over the top, Syracuse hit a quick out route that wasn’t enough for a first down, and Mansoor Delane went for the ball instead of the receiver.
