Virginia Tech Hokies Lead the Stanford Cardinal 14-0 at the Half

The Hokies have managed to give Hokie Nation some acid indigestion moments in this one. Stanford took the opening kickoff smartly down the field, while the Tech defense looked a bit flat. Not unprepared, but it seemed like they were swimming upstream trying to get stops. Stanford’s opening drive didn’t see a 3rd down until the Tech defense finally stiffened (Aneas Pebbles grabs a critical 5-yard sack on 3rd and 8 yards to go) and managed to force the Cardinal into a chancy 53-yard field goal attempt. The kick was long enough but sailed to the left of the goal posts and even with a decent enough drive, and a good time of possession, Stanford ended up with nothing in the way of points.
