The Virginia Tech Hokies are 20 minutes away from becoming bowl-eligible and defeating the Virginia Cavaliers again. Tech leads UVA 20-3 at halftime in the annual battle for the Commonwealth Cup.
Redshirt freshman quarterback William “Pop” Watson made his first career college start and looked like a seasoned veteran. Watson completed nine of 13 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown in the first half. He’s also the Hokies’ top rusher, with 45 yards on six carries.
On Virginia Tech’s first touchdown drive in the first quarter, Watson’s 42-yard completion to Da’Quan Felton set up the Hokies in the red zone.
