The season is barely over, and the NCAA transfer portal hasn’t even opened, but the defections have begun.
On Tuesday, Evan Watkins of 247Sports reported that Virginia Tech sophomore tight end Dae’Quan Wright will enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on Dec. 4.
The 6-foot-4, 249-pound Wright is a former four-star recruit in the 2022 class from Perry High School in Perry, Georgia. In two seasons at Virginia Tech, Wright caught 47 passes for 574 yards. This season, Wright caught 28 passes for 366 yards and played in every game. He was Virginia Tech’s starting tight end once Nick Gallo was lost for the season before the first game.
