It finally happened. On Saturday evening, Blacksburg High School running back Coleton Beck announced he’d received a scholarship offer from the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Beck’s lack of an offer from his hometown team had many Hokie fans scratching their heads. He’d camped at Virginia Tech several times for head coach Justin Fuente and still hadn’t received an offer. Sources close to the program say Fuente has always liked Beck, but it was more of a numbers crunch than anything. Perhaps missing out on some other backs this cycle paved the way for the Beck offer.
The 6’1”, 185-pound rising senior is arguably the best player in southwest Virginia.
