The Virginia Tech Hokies completed spring practice on Saturday in Lane Stadium as the Orange squad defeated the Maroon squad 21-14. This year's rosters were evenly split, with starters on both sides. Starting quarterback Kyron Drones saw some action and looked sharp, completing six of 10 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns.
William "Pop" Watson and Dylan Wittke are the quarterbacks battling to be the Drones' backup next season. Each saw plenty of action, but head coach Brent Pry said after the game that Watson had the edge. Watson completed 13 of 21 passes for 130 yards and also scored a rushing touchdown.
