The 6-foot-3, 192-pound Copeland was a three-star signee in the 2023 recruiting class for the Hokies and redshirted last season. He played high school football at Appomattox County High in Appomattox. During his time at Appomattox, Copeland won two state championships and was a two-time VHSL Class 2 All-State selection.
Copeland is the fifth player to enter the portal since it opened last week, following quarterback Dylan Wittke, defensive Antonio Cotman, running back Tralon Mitchell and offensive lineman Gabe Arena.
