There is a lot of excitement surrounding the 2024 Virginia Tech Hokies football team. After going 7-6 and winning a bowl game last season, the Hokies returned 20 starters this season. In addition to adding some key players via the NCAA transfer portal and signing a solid recruiting class, expectations are higher in Blacksburg than in several years.
One of those returning players is junior quarterback Kyron Drones. Drones took over as Virginia Tech’s starting quarterback in Week 3 and dramatically improved the offense. Offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen ran a scheme that took advantage of Drones’ dual-threat ability, and the Hokies would win five of their final seven games.
