Virginia Tech football: Hokies trail Rutgers 16-7 at halftime

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights lead the Virginia Tech Hokies 16-7 from Lane Stadium in Blacksburg at halftime.

The Hokies opened the game on offense but quickly went three-and-out. The Scarlet Knights returned the favor, going three-and-out, before things went sideways for Virginia Tech.

Senior wide receiver Jaylin Lane caught the punt from Rutgers and looked to be down at the 31-yard line. The Hokies were called for holding on the play. However, the officials reviewed it and Lane had fumbled, giving the Scarlet Knights the football at the Virginia Tech 31-yard line.

Rutgers drove nine plays for 31 yards, and running back Kyle Monangai finished it off with a one-yard touchdown run.
