The Virginia Tech Hokies officially announced transfer linebacker C.J. McCray on Wednesday as a part of the 2021 football team.
McCray transferred to Virginia Tech in March after spending his freshman season at Marshall. He did not play in 2020. He left Marshall after the coaching change that saw his former defensive coordinator, J.C. Price, return to Blacksburg as VT’s new co-defensive line coach.
After redshirting in 2020, McCray has four years of eligibility remaining.
A 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker, McCray has a chance to make an impact this fall. While the Hokies are set with their starters, there are openings in the two-deep.
