Mistakes plagued the Virginia Tech Hokies and, despite a late comeback, couldn't overcome the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, falling 26-23 on Saturday at Lane Stadium.
The Hokies opened the game on offense but quickly went three-and-out. The Scarlet Knights returned the favor, going three-and-out, before things went sideways for Virginia Tech.
Senior wide receiver Jaylin Lane caught the punt from Rutgers and looked to be down at the 31-yard line. The Hokies were called for holding on the play. However, the officials reviewed it, and Lane fumbled, giving the Scarlet Knights the football at the Virginia Tech 31-yard line.
