Thanks to a new NCAA rule, Brent Pry and the Virginia Tech Hokies announced several coaching staff changes.
Before the new rule went into effect in June, the NCAA only allowed 11 “countable” coaches who could provide instruction during practice and games. Now, all staff members can provide instruction on game day and during practice.
Pry wasted no time in announcing new titles for several staff members, including a trio of former Hokies greats. Here’s the list:
- Gunter Brewer - Director of High School Relations/Senior Offensive Analyst
- Brian Crist – Co-Quarterbacks Coach
- Brent Davis – Co-Offensive Line Coach
- Austin Fields – Assistant Offensive Line Coach/Quality Control
- Mike Moyseenko – Associate Tight Ends Coach
- Cam Phillips – Assistant Wide Receivers Coach/Quality Control
- Xavier Adibi – Associate Linebackers Coach
- Brayden Devault-Smith – Assistant Cornerbacks Coach/Quality Control
- Jeron Gouveia-Winslow – Associate Safeties Coach
- Jan Johnson – Assistant Defensive Line Coach/Quality Control
- Brandon McCombs - Assistant Special Teams/Specialist Coach
Brewer adds the analyst role to his title, while former analysts such as Crist, Davis, Adibi and Gouveia-Winslow can now be involved with on-field instruction.
