Today is June 12, 2019, which means we are officially 80 days away from the Virginia Tech Hokies opening the 2019 college football season at Boston College. Yesterday, we profiled former Hokie tight end, Mike Burnop, who you may be more familiar with as Tech’s radio analyst for almost 40 years. Burnop had an accomplished career on the gridiron, too.
In today’s profile, number 80, we look back at Antonio Freeman. One of Virginia Tech’s all-time greats at receiver, the 6’1” Freeman arrived in Blacksburg in 1991 out of Baltimore, Md. As a freshman, Freeman played in nine games, catching 19 passes for 274 yards, averaging over 14 yards per reception and also caught two touchdown passes.
