The Virginia Tech Hokies improved to 2-1 on the season with a 37-17 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs Saturday in Norfolk. As the score would indicate, the Hokies handily defeated the Monarchs, but a disastrous second quarter allowed ODU to hang around and make the game much more competitive than it should have been.
Here are five takeaways from Saturday's win.
Defense is still giving up the big plays
ODU first scored when third-string quarterback, true freshman quarterback Quinn Henicle, scored on a 65-yard touchdown run. OK, that's one play. But it wasn't. Former Hokie running back Bryce Duke, now a backup at ODU, looked much better going against the Hokies than he did while playing in Blacksburg.
