Virginia Tech, after Saturday’s loss to FSU, did not look like a team that belonged on the same floor as their ACC opponents. They were not playing with intensity, fight, or passion. It was time to show some fight. It was time for a signature win.
And when No. 10 North Carolina rolled into Blacksburg, Virginia Tech did just that.
It was not easy in the first half for the home side, who saw many of the same issues that have plagued them this season - the poor shooting, inability to rebound the basketball - appear in the first 15 minutes.
