The Virginia Tech Hokies rose to prominence 30 years ago thanks to Thursday Night Football. The Hokies relished playing on Thursdays, especially under the lights at Lane Stadium, and were tough to beat for years.
The Hokies hosted an old foe, the Boston College Eagles, on Thursday. They defeated them 42-21 to improve to 4-3 on the season and 2-1 in ACC play.
Unlike some previous games, the Hokies jumped out to a fast start, scoring 28 first-half points and heading into halftime pitching a shutout.
Things unraveled in the third quarter, though. After punting on their first possession of the third quarter, the Eagles scored to make it 28-7.
