Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock spoke this week to some local reporters, discussing NIL and the overall state of the school’s athletic department. Babcock’s interview received a primarily negative response online and on the message boards. Babcock acknowledged Virginia Tech’s issues, which included the men’s basketball program not receiving financial support in today’s NIL world.
It probably didn’t help that former Hokie Sean Pedulla was lighting up the scoreboard for the Ole Miss Rebels all the way to the Sweet 16. Pedulla spent three years in Blacksburg and transferred after the 2023-24 due to better financial opportunities elsewhere.
