Things are a bit different in the ACC this season. All ACC teams are opening up against a conference opponent, thanks to the new 20-game conference schedule. For the Virginia Tech Hokies and new head coach Mike Young, that meant a trip to Clemson in a tough early-season matchup.
Well, Young and the Hokies passed their first test of the new with an impressive 67-60 victory over the Tigers in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Landers Nolley II, the four-star freshman who was supposed to make a major impact last season, made his college debut and scored 30 points. Nolley was sensational, having one of the more impressive debuts in school history.
