The Virginia Tech Hokies couldn’t make it three in a row, falling to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 72-63 Saturday at Cassell Coliseum.
The Deacs came into the game winners of four in a row and six of seven, while the Hokies had won two straight and three of four, but Wake’s offensive firepower proved too much to overcome for Virginia Tech.
The Demon Deacons never trailed in the first half, opening up a nine-point lead in the first half, but the Hokies responded, closing it to within two points, as Wake headed into intermission with a 31-29 lead.
