Much like their win over the Florida State Seminoles earlier this week, the Virginia Tech Hokies controlled Saturday’s game against the Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville. And, much like Wednesday’s win in Tallahassee, the Hokies withstood a late surge to hold off the Hoos for a 75-74 win.
Virginia jumped on the Hokies early, scoring the first points of the game, and led 6-3 after guard Isaac McKneely sank a 3-pointer three minutes into the game. Tech sophomore guard Jaden Schutt responded with a trey of his own to tie things at 6-6. The teams would go back and forth over the next few minutes until Virginia Tech took control of the game and went into halftime, holding a 38-31 lead.
