The Virginia Tech men’s basketball program struggled badly in 2024-25, finishing 13-19 and 8-12 in ACC play. Considering the roster turnover from last year, Mike Young did a heckuva coaching job.
Much of the talk around the basketball program was about a lack of resources. It wasn’t just talk; it was a real issue. While no one will ever know the full truth about why Kenny Brooks bolted Blacksburg without explanation last year, a lack of resources for the women’s program was believed to be an issue.
Regardless, it was a problem that needed to be rectified for the Hokies to be able to compete.
