We got down to choosing what we think might happen to Division 1 college athletics, and where it will end up in 2030, and the first thought was that the entire endeavor had become fruitless. No single leader, council, or institution with the power was going to do much of anything to fix the disintegrating, broken mess. The reason for the time between the last article, and this one is pretty simple, really. It takes picking things out of the swirling mass, and trying to assemble the incomplete puzzle as the pieces all fly away. That takes a bit of time and some thought experiments.
